FROM January to May Shanghai customs handled 697 bills for goods imported from Hong Kong under the Cepa agreement between the Hong Kong and the mainland, representing an increase of 22.28 per cent over the first five months of 2006.
During the reporting period, the total value of the goods imported from Hong Kong rose 26.81 per cent over the same period last year to US$ 43.04 million, Xinhua reports.
At present, almost all of the HK goods imported by Shanghai are able to enjoy tariff-free treatment through the Cepa arrangement as these goods mainly comprise medicine, clothing, polystyrene, aluminium alloy plate and polyurethane, Shanghai Customs said.
