Japanese ocean carrier MOL is planning to reduce its transpacific capacity by 10 percent in April to better align supply with demand, the Japanese business daily Nikkei reported this week.
MOL had previously stripped out 20 percent of its capacity between Asia and North America, in addition to decreasing 30 percent of its capacity between Asia and Europe. The 10 percent capacity cuts will also be applied to MOL's services between Asia and Southern Hemisphere countries, as well as intra-Asia services.
