Japan injects $9.3m into Vietnam Customs project

9/25/2009 10:48:01 AM

Japan will provide a loan of US$9.3 million for a project to upgrade Customs facilities at Haiphong Port, Vietnam’s state-run Labor newspaper reported.

The Japanese funding will be used to improve Customs clearance regulation and have control over the safety and security of imported and exported goods via the port.

The project is slated for completion next March.

The number of containers handled by Haiphong Port grew 70 percent a year between 2006 and 2008.
