The Newport Company solemnly organizes the first Anniversary of Newport Pilot Company as first maritime pilot company of the Vietnamese Army and the Vietnam People’s Navy ((27/10/2008 - 27/10/2009) and honourably receives the Souvenir awarded by the Navy Headquarters.
The foundation of Newport Pilot Company is obviously an indispensable requirement which indicates the right polity by the Central Government, the Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam People’s Navy and marks an important milestone in the history of Vietnamese Navy Forces in general and Saigon Newport in particular. From this moment onwards, Newport Pilot shall simultaneously conduct two missions: 1. To attain military purpose and fortify maritime safety by enabling safe navigation for military ships of the Vietnam People’s Navy and of other countries and for commercial ships of up to 100,000 DWTs to and from all premises of Saigon Newport; 2. To improve total package maritime services as well as pilot service for terminals in Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province to meet the requirements and gain trust from international and domestic clients, partaking in enhancing prestige of the Army, the Navy Forces and standing of Saigon Newport in the process of global external relations and economic integration.
Merely after one year of operation with new and challenging missions as to simultaneously develop infrastructure and workforce as well as undertake daily assignments, Newport Pilot had endeavored to ensure safety navigation of 1,931 ship turns from Vung Tau Pilot Station to Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal and Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminals and vice versa. With VND30 billion of yearly turnover.
