US, Japan agree 'more open' skies

12/15/2009 9:38:13 AM

The US and Japan have agreed to relax limits on flights between the two countries.

Under the agreement, which still must be signed off by both governments, airlines from both countries would be allowed to select routes and destinations based on consumer demand without limitations.

The agreement also provides opportunities for growth of US carrier operations at Narita Airport near Tokyo and ensures fair competition regarding new opportunities at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
