Call for airlines to boost capacity

6/9/2010 10:21:00 AM

Reduced airfreight capacity as a result of the global downturn has resulted in air cargo freight rates increasing between 30 and 50 per cent so far this year.

Now freight companies are calling on airlines to increase capacity to cope with improving demand.

Steven Lee, the chairman of Singapore Aircargo Agents Association, said airlines with planes parked in the desert as well as ocean shipping companies 'going slow in selling' were mainly to blame for rising prices.
