On 6th November, Saigon Newport Corporation solemnly organized the opening ceremony of container barging line between Vietnam and Cambodia at Phnom Penh port, Cambodia.
Attending the conference were the Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Van Duoc (Member of Vietnamese Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Ministry of National Defense), Lieutenant General Nguyen Tuan Dung - Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam People's Army's General Department of Politics (Member of Vietnamese Party Central Committee), Mr. Ngo Anh Dung- Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, Vietnam and Cambodia Government Official representatives, leaders of Cambodia Maritime Department, Cambodia Port Authority, and more than 250 distinguished guests coming from shipping lines/ agencies, forwarding companies, and importers/ exporters.
Tan Cang – Cypress, a joint – venture of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) and Hong Kong-based Sun Cypress Shipping Co. Ltd., has operated since April, 2010 and currently exploits the container barging service connecting ports in Mekong Delta area with SNP’s subsidiaries including Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal, deep see Terminal Tan Cang – Cai Mep, and with Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (Cambodia). Currently, two barges with capacity at 128 Teus operate two importing and two exporting voyages per week. Containers trans-shipped at the deep-sea Terminal Tan Cang – Cai Mep go straight to America and Europe. This business operation plays a greatly economic role in satisfying increasing demand of cargo transported between Vietnam and Cambodia. Besides this transporting services, Newport – Cypress will also deploy maritime routes linking SNP’s subsidiaries to ports in Da Nang and Port of Hai Phong. This connecting system promises to maximize benefits to customers, and improve commercial relationship as well as mutual friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
