Cargoitalia is planning to start scheduled MD11 freighter services to India in the second quarter of next year and follow that up with the addition of a Southeast Asia operation in the third quarter.
More immediately, the Italian all-cargo airline plans to further expand its existing China services with the temporary introduction of a third weekly frequency to Shanghai Pudong at the end of this month before introducing that operation on a permanent basis early next year.
Two other possible network expansion moves with the existing freighter fleet, said Roberto Gilardoni, Cargoitalia's commercial director, involved introducing a stop in Istanbul on the way to Hong Kong to give a Milan-Istanbul-Hong Kong-Milan routing and adding a third US point, possibly Atlanta, which would be served in combination with New York.
