Lufthansa to test biofuel impact

12/1/2010 11:26:02 AM

From April 2011, Germany's Lufthansa will part-fuel an Airbus A321 on scheduled flights between Hamburg and Frankfurt with biofuel.

One of the A321's engines will use a 50-50 mix of biofuel and normal aviation fuel.

The trial will last six months and the carrier will then assess its impact on maintenance and engine life.

The chosen A321 will only fly this route and only be fuelled in Hamburg.
