The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has signed an air services memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an Air Services Agreement (ASA) with the government of Vietnam, ensuring designated airlines of both parties will benefit from increased scheduled air services.
The UAE designated Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia, RAK Airways and FlyDubai as UAE national airlines under the agreement, while Vietnam Airlines was designated by Vietnam.
The MoU allows full flexibility on routes, capacity, number of frequencies and types of aircraft and covers passenger and cargo services.
It also includes fifth freedom traffic rights and authorises unrestricted non-scheduled operations between the two countries.
It is believed to be Vietnam's most-liberal-ever agreement of its type.
