CMA CGM has launched a new direct service linking Asia to West Africa on August 3rd.
Serving China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroon, the new WAX II service will be operated in partnership with CSAV, with each carrier deploying five 2,500 - 3,100 TEU vessels.
This service will enable CMA CGM to offer better coverage of West African ports, particularly with the direct call to Cameroon at the port of Douala, and enhanced transhipment capacity from Lomé to Cotonou.
The call at CMA CGM's Port Kelang hub also provides access to the south-eastern Asian market, and impvored transit times means a record transit time of 22 days between Apapa (the first port of call on the West Coast of Africa) and Port Kelang.
The WAX II port rotation will be: Ningbo > Shanghai > Chiwan > Hong Kong > Port Kelang > Lagos-Apapa > Lome > Tema > Abidjan > Douala > Ningbo.
