French ocean carrier CMA CGM will apply a port congestion surcharge on shipments moving from India’s Port of Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru) to East/West Africa.
Starting Sept. 1, the planned surcharge will be $65 per 20-foot container.
The move follows similar surcharge announcements by other major ocean carriers, including Hapag-Lloyd and APL, operating regular container services to and from India’s largest container port.
Separately, CMA CGM announced a general rate increase on cargo shipped from India to West Africa. Effective Sept. 1, the increase will be $150 per 20-foot containers and $300 per 40-foot/high cube container.
