CMA CGM is reorganizing its CAGEMA service between the U.S. and the Caribbean by adding two East Coast port calls and by transshipping cargo onto feeder services at Caribbean hubs to serve other ports in the region.
As of Sept. 9, the CAGEMA service calls at Jacksonville, Fla., and the French carrier will call on New York/New Jersey, starting Sept. 24.
CMA CGM said it will now serve the ports of Castries (Saint Lucia), Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago), El Guamache (Venezuela) and Oranjestad (Aruba) through transshipment onto some of its feeder services.
The line will transport cargo to and from Castries on the CAGEMA Inter Island feeder service, via Vieux Fort. Cargo to and from Port of Spain will be transferred at the dedicated Kingston hub to loop 2 of the PEX 2 service (linking Asia, Mexico, the Caribbean and North Brazil).
It will serve El Guamache on the Caribraz service (between the Caribbean and Brazil), while goods to Oranjestad will be transported on the Venezuela Feeder via Cartagena.
The new CAGEMA port rotation is: New York, Savannah, Jacksonville, Miami, Kingston, Rio Haina, San Juan, Philipsburg, Vieux Fort, Bridgetown and back to New York.
