APL joins other major ocean carriers in implementing a second general rate increase this year on the depressed Asia-Europe trade lane.
The Singapore-based liner operator, which started charging an additional $750 per 20-foot container from Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean March 1, will raise its rates by $400 per TEU April 1.
“The rate restoration is applicable to all dry and reefer shipments from Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe and the Mediterranean,” APL India said.
Other April 1 GRIs on Asia-Europe routes include: a $400 per-TEU by Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping and United Arab Shipping; and a $475 per-TEU by Zim Integrated Shipping Services.
