DHL said it has started a new twice weekly air freighter service between Cincinnati and Sydney.
“The addition of the twice-weekly U.S.-Australia flight increases capacity and connections on a fast-growing trade lane that is expected to grow 20 percent in 2012,” said Jerry Hsu, chief executive officer for DHL Express Asia Pacific. “It provides significant service benefit to our customers in North America and Oceania and transit time savings of up to one day, and follows hot on the tailwinds of our March launch of our 'Round-the-World' flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, Leipzig and back to Hong Kong.”
DHL said an integrated road network from Sydney to Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne ensures next-day morning deliveries in these cities off each flight.
The B747-400 freighter on the service is operated by DHL partner airline Polar Air Cargo Worldwide and returns to Cincinnati via Hong Kong, providing connectivity to DHL's Asia-to-Americas network.
From Cincinnati to Sydney, the service will make refuelling stops in Honolulu.
