Officials from SBL CMH Development of the US have met authorities of Vietnam’s southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau to show their interests in building a logistic centre and a container port, reported Vietnam News Brief Service.
At the meeting with People’s Committee chairman Tran Minh Sanh, SBL chairman Bernice Lin introduced contents, feasibility, technology and management of the project.
The logistics centre will be in three phases with the first slated for completion in 2015, the second in 2017 and the third in 2020, Lin said, giving no more details.
Meanwhile, Lower Cai Mep port with a capacity of 3.5 million TEUs/year will be built on a site of 600 ha. SBL expects to start projects late this year and finish two wharves in 2015. It aims to complete the whole port in 2017.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau now has 53 seaport projects, of which, 17 are operational, 18 are under construction and 22 are in preparation. However, it has the only road called National Highway No. 51 to serve the cargo transport of the local ports.
