FedEx subsidiary FedEx Express Canada plans to upgrade its international freight services between Edmonton International Airport in Alberta and the FedEx World Hub in Memphis, Tenn., by deploying an Airbus 310, beginning in January 2013.
The wide-body A310 will increase air cargo capacity on the route by more than 1,600 cubic feet, or an additional 20,000 kilograms. Flights will occur daily from Monday through Friday.
“FedEx Express Canada has tremendous confidence in the economy of northern Alberta,” said Lisa Lisson, president of FedEx Express Canada, in a written statement. “This upgrade in cargo capacity signifies to all businesses and consumers our determination to provide industry-leading convenience and connectivity between Edmonton and the rest of the world.”
