CMA CGM is planning two rounds of rate hikes for goods moving from India and Pakistan to a variety of destinations worldwide — North Europe, the Mediterranean, the Baltic, the Black Sea, North Africa, South and Central America, the Caribbean and Canada, as well as Houston, Texas.
Effective Feb. 1, 2013, the French ocean carrier intends to increase rates for dry cargo by $300 per 20-foot container and $500 per 40-foot container. Increases in the same amounts are also scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2013.
CMA CGM has also announced a peak-season surcharge of $150 per 20-foot-equivalent unit on northbound shipments from New Zealand to and via both North and Southeast Asia.
