Chongqing's first quarter box volume increases 24.5pc to 222,500 TEU

In the first quarter, Chongqing's port container throughput grew 24.11 per cent to 222,500 TEU with overall tonnage increasing 10.16 per cent to 30.65 million tonnes, Xinhua reports. In the same period, the city handled 241,400 TEU of containers, 24.5 per cent more than in the first quarter of 2012. The city's air cargo throughput dropped 6.7 per cent to 63,800 tonnes, of which 28,700 tonnes were outbound cargo, up seven per cent.   Asian Shipper News
