OOCL will boost rates in its westbound trade from the Far East, including Japan, to the Mediterranean and Black Sea, starting July 1.
The increase will be $650 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, the container line said.
Mediterranean Shipping Co. and MOL have also planned similar Asia-to-Europe rate hikes for July 1, despite recent declining rates in the trade lane. According to industry analyst Alphaliner, carriers likely will secure only half of the Far East-Europe rate hikes planned for July.
