Georgia ports moved a record 2.54 million tons of general cargo in October, a 22 percent jump from October 2012, driven by record movements of automobiles and heavy machinery at Colonel’s Island Terminal at the Port of Brunswick and Ocean Terminal at Port of Savannah. For the fiscal year to date, total tonnage increased 9.2 percent over the same period in fiscal 2013, to 9.6 million.
