American Airlines Cargo has started a new daily widebody cargo service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sao Paulo, Brazil (GRU).
The service, operated with a B777-200ER, provides customers with a fourth gateway to and from Sao Paulo. American is the only airline to offer this non-stop service. Currently, American offers services between Sao Paulo and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX).
Automotive parts, equipment and infrastructure for mobile networks and international mail are expected to be the primary exports from Asia into Brazil. Perishables, leather and aircraft parts are expected to be the major exports from Brazil.
Last month, American launched cargo service between Miami (MIA) and Milan, Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Bogota, Columbia (BOG), and southbound service from Miami (MIA) to Curitiba, Brazil (CWB) and Porto Alegre, Brazil (POA). American will begin offering widebody service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Hong Kong (HKG) as well as Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Shanghai, China (PVG) in June 2014.
