South Korea's Hyundai Merchant Marines said it plans to deploy six large container vessels on its Asia-US East Coast route.
The company said it signed a charter contract with London-based Zodiac Maritime Agencies to lease the 10,000 TEU ships, Maeil Business Newspaper reported.
Hyundai said the six vessels would travel the route for 12 years starting in 2016, with the vessels to be built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.
Hyundai also said it plans to deploy five 13,100 TEU vessels on its Asia-Europe line from 2014 onwards, increasing the total number of ships handling cargo from Asia and Europe to 10.
