ZIM is to launch a barge service to renew its connections with Paraguay, South America by linking the port of Asuncion to Montevideo, Uruguay and to its international network.
The barge service will link to three intercontinental services. One of these will be the weekly Asia South America East Coast Service (ASE) operated jointly with Evergreen, COSCO and CMA CGM with a fleet of 13 vessels of 8,000 TEU of which Zim will contribute two 8,400 TEUs.
It will also connect to the Med-ECSA 'Sirius' service operated by MSC and Hamburg Süd to which Zim participates as a slot buyer only (service marketed by Zim as 'South America Mediterranean Service' SAM) and weekly US Caribbean-ECSA service through slots of the MSC relevant service, marketed by Zim as 'XNS' service.
Zim's intra-America network (CAS) provides connections to destinations worldwide via its hub in Kingston, Jamaica.
