Ennore Port Ltd has drawn up a plan to develop a new container terminal for an estimated US$205 million that is awaiting clearance by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), said M.A. Baskarachar, EPL chairman and managing director.
Baskarachar said a couple of companies had already shown interest in the container terminal project, reported The Hindu.
G.K. Vasan, Union Shipping Minister, said the container terminal project with a capacity of 1.4 million TEUs would be built on 35 acres and have a quay length of 730m.
