Reflecting the health of the vibrant UAE economy and its links with the equally buoyant export regions of East Asia, Gulftainer's Khorfakkan Container Terminal has launched a new service.
Hanjin Qingdao, representing the maiden call of Hanjin's FMS service berthed at 10 am and sailed later in the day having achieved a productivity rate of around 120 mph.
This new 2,500 TEU ship is operating on a load-port rotation covering China, Korea and South East Asia and the current service will add a further three ships early in 2008.
Partners on the new service will be fellow Korean companies, Heung A, STX Panocean, Sinokor and C&Line who will be contributing tonnage to the service soon.
Gulftainer director and general manager Peter Richards said the company is delighted that long-time customer Hanjin/Senator has chosen to boost its presence in the area with a further call at Khorfakkan.
