Global port operator PSA is upgrading handling capacity at its terminals in Antwerp and Zeebrugge, adding cranes and other equipment to complement its expansion plans at the two ports, International Freighting Weekly reported.
Last year, its Belgian subsidiary PSA HNN handled seven million TEUs at its six container terminals in the country - five in Antwerp and one in Zeebrugge.
PSA HNN is preparing for the future, with plans to expand its Deurganckdock terminal in Antwerp and its Container Terminal Zeebrugge.
The Antwerp terminals can handle new-generation vessels, and government plans to dredge the river Scheldt will free the port of tidal constraints.
