Yang Ming Line plans to upgrade its Asia-Med Express Service with a direct call at Ashdod, Israel.
The first vessel in the revised schedule will be the YM Orchid, expected to arrive at Ashdod on May 9.
“With the direct call at Ashdod, the AME service will offer shorter transit time (20 days from Shanghai to Ashdod) and more reliable transportation to and from Israel,” the carrier stated in an announcement.
The fixed-day weekly service, currently deploying seven 5,050-TEU vessels, will now call Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Said, Ashdod, Genoa, Livorno, Fos, Port Said, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
Taiwan-based YML said the AME would further enhance its intra-Europe coverage between the East Mediterranean and West Mediterranean or Northern Europe through connections on its TIX feeder service.
The TIX, operating with two 1,200-TEU vessels, offers a weekly rotation of Port Said, Ashdod, Istanbul, Haydarpasa, Izmir, Mersin, Ashdod, and Port Said.
