The 10 member lines of the Canada Transpacific Stabilization Agreement said they are raising bunker and currency surcharges in October.
Bunker surcharges will rise 59 percent to 64 percent, depending on the destination, as the price of crude oil has risen significantly since the first half of the year.
• For East Coast ports, the fuel recovery charge will be $490 per TEU, $613 per FEU, $690 per 40-foot high-cube container, and $776 per 45-foot container.
• For West Coast ports, the charge will be $246 per TEU, $308 per FEU, $346 per 40-foot high-cube container, and $390 per 45-foot container.
Meanwhile, the carriers are also raising their currency adjustment factor in October from 1 percent (the rate set for September) to 3 percent from all origins in Asia, including Japan and China. The currency surcharge was set at 2 percent for August.
