Australian transport firm Toll Holdings has launched a nationwide express package service in New Zealand in an attempt to break open the market duopoly of CourierPost and Freightways, the Dominion Post reported.
Toll's group general manager, Greg Miller, said the launch of Toll Ipec was in response to demand in the marketplace.
Toll will go up against the New Zealand Post/DHL joint venture CourierPost and Freightways which hold 85 percent of the express package market.
Miller said Ipec would transport packages weighing between five and 25 kilos, and had invested in a fleet of 55 small trucks and vans.
