Davao City has opened recently its new shipping route with CB Ships Services now serving direct shipment from here to Lae, the major port city of Papua New Guinea, the Manilla Bulletin reported.
The CB Ships Services will be regularly sending a container vessel from Davao, which is the transshipment point to Lae starting this month.
Lae is the primary cargo port of Papua New Guinea, wherein export products such as tuna and timber are shipped to other destinations worldwide like Europe, the United States, East Asia, and other major destinations.
The Davao-Lae route and vice versa, will guarantee a shorter transit time which will provide economical benefits to the shippers and buyers.
Lae is the second largest city in Papua New Guinea and it has the largest port as it is located along the main land transport corridor.
