Hanjin Shipping and Hyundai Merchant Marine have announced that they will co-operate in the Trans-Pacific trade, effective October.
The two carriers will exchange vessel space: Hanjin will take slots on Hyundai's Suez Express (SZX) service and Hyundai on Hanjin's All Water North Atlantic (AWN) service.
The co-operation agreement will enable Hanjin to expand its presence in the Singapore/Colombo - US East Coast trade, and Hyundai in the Shanghai/Busan - US East Coast trade.
Meanwhile, Hanjin continues to co-operate with domestic and overseas carriers to develop various routes in order to meet customer demand.
All Water North Atlantic (AWN) service
• Port rotation: Kaohsiung > Yantian > Shanghai > Busan > Panama > New York > Norfolk > Savannah > Panama > Kaohsiung
• Vessels deployed: eight 4,300 TEU vessels; four operated by Hanjin, four by Yang Ming Line
Suez Express (SZX) service
• Port rotation: Singapore > Colombo > Suez > New York > Charleston > Savannah > Norfolk > Suez > Jebel Ali > Singapore
• Vessels deployed: eight 4,000 TEU vessels, all operated by APL
