The volume of containers handled at South Korea's seaports rose 4.9 percent last month, bolstered by rebounding economic activity, Yonhap English News reported.
According to the report by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, containers processed at local seaports amounted to 1.49 million TEUs last month compared with 1.41 million TEUs a month earlier.
Busan, the nation's largest port city, saw the processed container volume exceed one million TEUs in October for the fourth consecutive month.
The corresponding figures for Gwangyang and Incheon amounted to 1.66 million TEUs and 145,000 TEUs, respectively.
