Freight and passenger traffic on major Asian carriers grew in November 2009, rising 12 per cent and 3.5 per cent respectively year-on-year. The average international air cargo load factor was 8.2 percentage points higher at 71.1 per cent, according to AAPA.
"After a difficult year, in which AAPA international passenger traffic has fallen eight per cent and international air cargo traffic registered a 14 per cent decline, the November traffic figures are mildly encouraging, in line with the broader economic recovery under way being led by the Asia Pacific region," said Andrew Herdman, director-general of the AAPA.
