State-owned South African carrier SA Express is to launch and operate joint-venture domestic flights in the Democratic Republic of Congo from February 1.
SA Express will own 49 per cent of the new venture, called Congo Express, with the remainder owned by BizAfrika Congo, a local investment company.
Congo Express will fly seven days a week between Lubumbashi and Kinshasa, the capital, and four times a week between Kinshasa and the diamond-producing centre of Mbuji Mayi, it said.
Expansion to other routes will follow.
