The volume of import goods from China through Tanjung Priok port in the first two months of this year has surged more than 50 percent compared to the same period last year, Bisnis Indonesia reported.
Data by the Priok Port One-Roof Service Center showed import goods from China had flooded the busiest port in Indonesia following the implementation of the Asean-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) early this year.
During January-February 2010, the import volumes of general goods and containers directly shipped from China and handled at Priok port reached 75,336 tonnes and 39,780 TEUs, respectively, rising from 73,064 tonnes and 24,553 TEUs, respectively during the same period last year.
