Hanjin Shipping will launch a new direct service between Asia and Mexico in mid-March when its China America Express Service begins calling at Manzanillo.
Hanjin will deploy five ships of 5,500 20-foot equivalent units capacity on the service, which will have the following port rotation: Shanghai, Gwangyang, Busan, Long Beach, Manzanillo, Ensenada, Long Beach and Busan.
The Hanjin Athens, which is currently deployed on the CAX service, one of Hanjin’s major trans-Pacific services, will make its maiden call at Manzanillo on March 14.
Hanjin said it is starting the service to build a stronger presence in Mexico, where it expects demand to show continuous growth.
Hanjin said it also wants to diversify its portfolio of cargo volume from Asia to the U.S. South West region by adding the growing cargo demand to Mexico.
