Emirates Sky Cargo now operates a brand new B777F aircraft every week between Dubai and Dusseldorf. This weekly flight replaces the B747F that was routed via Malpensa.
The new aircraft provides one hundred tons of export capacity as well as a similar payload inbound direct between Dubai and Dusseldorf. Furthermore, one of the twice-daily passenger flights has been changed from an A330-200 to a B777-ER, which provides an extra seven tons of cargo per flight.
Gerton Hulsman, managing director of DUS Cargo Logistics, commented: "We are building our freighter traffic here at Dusseldorf. This new capacity is really good news as the region's exports are growing fast."
He added that Dusseldorf is Germany's third largest airport serving 180 destinations worldwide, with a potential capacity of 300,000 tons of cargo a year. Located at the heart of North Rhine Westphalia - Germany's leading industrial and commercial region - the airport and logistics network distribute goods throughout the whole of Northern Germany, Benelux and Europe.
