Hanjin Shipping said it has taken delivery of the first of five 8,600-TEU vessels from Hyundai SamHo Heavy Industries’ shipyard.
The ship, the Hanjin Long Beach, will join the CKYH Alliance’s NE-4 service April 29 in Qingdao. The service connects Asia with northern Europe, with a rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Said, Hamburg, Antwerp, Port Said, Singapore, Hong Kong and Qingdao.
The container line said the new vessel “consumes less fuel than any other ships in the same class and can easily change its speed according to operational situation.”
The other four ships in the series will be delivered beginning in 2011.
