Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) plans to increase the volume of container transportation between Japan and the Russian Far East, Itar-Tass reported.
According to the plan, container cargo from Japan will be delivered regularly to Far Eastern ports no less than once a week while before it was twice a month. MOL plans to increase the number of TEUs up to one thousand units per month.
The global crises caused the decrease of foreign trade between Japan and Russia last year, but lately the situation has improved. At the same time the conditions for infrastructure development are being created in the region. The flow of Japanese goods including building machinery, car parts and export goods to Japan are increasing.
MOL also plans to strengthen collaboration with Russian transport company FESCO to increase cargo turnover through Busan port.
