CMA CGM will seek a general rate increase on all westbound cargo moving on its EPIC Service from India to Europe and the Mediterranean, a third GRI this year.
Starting July 14, the proposed increase will be $250 per 20-foot dry container, and $400 per 40-foot dry and high cube container.
The French carrier earlier applied two GRIs on the EPIC with increases of the same amount as of March 1 and May 10.
CMA CGM’s move follows similar GRI and peak-season surcharge announcements by other major operators serving the Indian subcontinent-Europe-Mediterranean trade lanes.
Chile-based CSAV Norasia has announced a rate increase of $250 per TEU on all westbound shipments moving on its India-Middle East-Europe Express Service.
Mediterranean Shipping Company will boost rates on the route by $400 per TEU, starting Aug. 1.
Recent peak-season surcharge announcements include: $200 per TEU by Cosco Container Lines as of July 15; $300 per TEU by United Arab Shipping Company as of July 15; and $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU by Evergreen Line as of July 18.
