State-run ocean carrier Shipping Corp. of India is ready to start a new service with Swiss carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. between the Indian Subcontinent and the Mediterranean.
SCI Chairman and Managing Director S. Hajara said discussions between his company and MSC, the world’s second-largest container line, are ongoing and that a more detailed announcement would be made in the next 10 days.
SCI and MSC already partner on an India/North Europe service with a wayport stop in Barcelona.
“We have seen a significant pick up in volumes in the recent past, on account of the recovery in the domestic and global markets,” Hajara said. “The volumes are expected to pick up further in the months ahead.”
