Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) carried 779 tonnes of cargo in June, representing a 20 percent increase.
The Kiev-based carrier said it expects this trend to continue with the arrival of larger capacity passenger aircraft, plans to add a second freighter to its fleet and continues network expansion.
UIA has taken delivery of four B737-800 passenger aircraft in the last year, increasing cargo capacity to four tonnes per flight. The new equipment is operating on routes to Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan), Tbilisi (Georgia), Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv, Rome, Barcelona and Lisbon.
An 18-tonne capacity B757SF-300 freighter currently operates between Kiev, Vienna and Liege. UIA Cargo plans to add a second freighter to its fleet.
The most recent additions to the UIA network are Tel Aviv, Alma-Ata, Geneva and three destinations in in Croatia – Dubrovnik, Pula and Split.
