CMA CGM will launch the ACSA2, a new direct service between Asia, Mexico and the west coast of South America, operated in partnership with CSCL, Hanjin Shipping and Hyundai Merchant Marine.
The joint service will strengthen CMA CGM’s presence on the Asia-South America trade.
“The trade from Asia to the west coast of South America has enjoyed a healthy growth since the last quarter of 2009, a trend which is due to carry on pursuant to our customers demand on this market,” said Jean-Yves Duval, vice-president Caribbean and Latin America Lines, for the CMA CGM Group.
The French line said in a statement that the ACSA2 will provide customers with direct connections to Guayaquil (Ecuador), Iquique and Valparaiso (Chile), offer enlarged port coverage of the west coast of South America and one of the fastest transit times in and out of the region, and add capacity in response to growing demand.
The ACSA 2 service will deploy 10 vessels with a capacity of 2,350 to 2,550 TEU and have the port rotation: Shekou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, Manzanillo (Mexico), Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, Iquique, Valparaiso, San Vicente, Manzanillo (Mexico), Pusan and return to Shekou.
The ACSA 2 service will start its eastbound rotation at Shekou on September 13.
