Japan’s All Nippon Airways is expanding its freighter schedule to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Sharply increased demand and a reduction of capacity by its main competitor, Japan Airlines, prompted the carrier to add new destinations and increase frequencies. “Demand for these routes has recovered remarkably during this fiscal year,” ANA said.
Services between Tokyo Narita and Shanghai Pudong on ANA’s 767-300 freighters will increase from four to six a week from Oct. 31. Flights between Narita and Taipei will double from three rotations to six.
One southbound freighter from Narita to Hong Kong has been added, taking the route to four freighters a week. Dalian will get its own dedicated weekly freighter to and from Narita.
Other direct services linking Dalian, Tianjin and Qingdao with Narita and Osaka are to be added.
While the Japanese and Chinese governments are discussing traffic rights, ANA has deferred its plan to increase frequencies from Haneda to Beijing and to Shanghai Hongqiao. It is instead upgrading from a daily 767-300ER to a 777-200ER service on both routes.
