Grand Alliance members Hapag-Lloyd, NYK and OOCL said they are reducing capacity for the slow winter season between Europe and the Far East.
Their winter program is similar to the seasonal reductions in capacity they have implemented in the slack winter season in the past, when vessels on Asia-Europe services are put into dry dock for maintenance and repairs.
To ensure continuation of their service network, the carriers said they will offer bi-weekly sailings on loop D. They already implemented the service adjustment starting with the westbound sailing of Loop D from Busan on Oct. 2.
The Grand Alliance members said the service reduction is expected to last until March 2011.
The Grand Alliance still offers three services between North Europe and the Far East covering all major ports with weekly sailings.
