The MSC Emanuella, the latest of Mediterranean Shipping Co.’s super sized container vessels, made its first call at the Port of Salalah in Oman on its maiden voyage.
The vessel, which has a capacity of 13,798 20-foot equivalent units, is 1,200 feet long and has a gross tonnage of 155,000 metric tons, making it one of the largest container vessels in the world.
The MSC Emanuella was delivered in September 2010 and is on its maiden voyage in the LION Service between the Far East and Northern Europe. The vessel arrived at Salalah from Singapore and is scheduled to travel through the Suez Canal to Europe.
