The first ship in Horizon Lines’ new China-to-U.S. service departed Shanghai for Los Angeles.
The 2,824-TEU Horizon Hawk is one of five ships the carrier will operate in its weekly Five Star Express, an international service that will operate on the eastbound leg of the carrier’s domestic Jones Act service from the West Coast to Guam. Horizon previously chartered its eastbound capacity to Maersk Line.
The Horizon Hawk called Ningbo, China, on Dec. 13 and Shanghai on Dec. 15, and is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on Dec. 26 before continuing to Oakland and returning to Guam and China.
