The Frankfurt Airport in 2010 racked up a record tonnage of cargo, which increased 21.5 percent to 2,231,348 metric tons, its parent FRA said Friday.
The substantial growth in cargo tonnage was achieved despite weather delays and cancellations, which limited aircraft movements to a small increase of 0.3 percent, FRA said.
In the reporting month of December 2010 the airport’s cargo rose 3.3 percent to 179,673 metric tons from the same month a year earlier, while weather disruptions severely curtailed passenger traffic.
