Hanjin Shipping has received two 8,600 TEU class containerships, Hanjin Hamburg and Hanjin New York, the second and the third in the series of five 8,600 TEU class vessels received from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
These vessels are equipped with fuel-efficient and eco-friendly engines that can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
According to WW Lee, deputy president & chief executive of Hanjin's Container Business unit, Hanjin is in the process of establishing an optimum fleet portfolio by investing in various sizes of containerships ranging from 4,000 TEU to 10,000 TEU.
Meanwhile, the fourth and fifth vessels in this series are scheduled for delivery during this year.
The two new vessels will be deployed in Hanjin's Pacific South Express (PSX) service at the end of January, which calls at: Yantian > Kaohsiung > Shanghai > Gwangyang > Busan > Long Beach > Oakland > Seattle > Busan > Yantian.
